FACL offers a range of high quality courses, delivered in the heart of local communities and at times to suit your needs. Learning is provided to help you gain a new skill, re-connect with learning, pursue an interest, learn how to support your children better or progress into further learning, volunteering and employment. We aim to make learning accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of their income therefore, many of our courses are offered free of charge or at subsidised rates. All courses are funded by the Skills Funding Agency, which may be used as match funding for the European Social Fund. Family Learning

Family learning provides opportunities for parents, carers, grandparents and their children to learn together in a fun, engaging environment. Topics range from ceramics to science, football fitness or book projects and English or maths. This type of learning re-enforces relationships, improves confidence, health and behaviour and develops important functional skills.


Creative Learning

Whether you are a complete beginner or wanting to enhance your skills, there are a wide variety of courses available. Why not try bag making or batik, ceramics or crafts and sewing or sugar-craft? Creative courses not only help you develop new skills, they can help build your confidence and improve your wellbeing.


Learning Difficulties or Disabilities

We offer a range of courses to help adults with learning disabilities and/or difficulties to develop creative, employability or independent living skills.


English & Maths

Prepare yourself for the world of work and everyday life by developing your English and maths skills. We offer a range of courses and qualifications to support reading, writing and numeracy.


Employability & Life Skills

These courses improve motivation, self-esteem, communication and confidence. They develop key work and life skills which will help your chances of employment and support you in everyday life.


ICT & Media

If you have never used a computer or you want to broaden your knowledge of IT, then we have numerous courses to help you. A range of topics are available including digital imaging, photo restoration and using iPads and tablets, as well as qualifications to support employment.


History & Languages

Step back in time and discover your family tree or learn a new foreign language.


Mental Health & Wellbeing

Gain a greater understanding of stress, anxiety and depression and help decrease symptoms of mental health issues. These courses will help you develop coping strategies and make positive changes for the future. There is also a chance for you to do something positive for yourself and others by taking part in our Mental Health Research project.


Health & Care

Introductory courses and qualifications to help you prepare for work in the health and care sector including early years, children’s workforce, adult social care and youth work. Courses listed here also include health, nutrition and fitness and the Level 2 Awards in Health & Safety and First Aid.
